These days you don’t get many singers who are willing to write their own lyrics. Most of the time songs are rolled off a songwriter conveyer belt and onto an album, and their very lyrics betray how generic they are.

But not with Agnetha Faltskog. The popular ABBA singer and relatively successful recording artist has a long history of writing songs for herself and for the band (though other members did contribute as well). Critics and fans alike noted Faltskog’s particular adeptness in writing lyrics in schlager style (literally translated as ‘a hit’), which characterizes high energy, simple, happy tunes based on sentimentality and sweet relationships.
